Research has shown that babies’ brains develop through play, and that the right type of play at the right time will ensure that your child will reach their full potential.
Lifestart’s free, home based Parent and Child development programme gives parents monthly information on their child’s developmental stage and the play required to ensure enhancement of their child’s physical, social, emotional, cognitive, intellectual and creative skills at each stage of the brain’s development.
Children who have experienced the programme have, through play, developed their confidence, self-esteem, independence, resilience and problem solving skills. This play also provides the necessary foundation skills for numeracy, literacy and science so that children enter school ready to learn.

Area that we cover
The programme is available to all families who have children under five years living in the areas listed below.
Lifestart Mid-Ards is based in Kircubbin and provides a service to families living in the villages and outlying areas of Carrowdore, Ballywalter, Ballyhalbert, Greyabbey, Kircubbin, Cloughey, Ballygalget, Portavogie and Portaferry.
Lifestart Mid-Ards have recently completed a very successful six-month pilot of the Lifestart programme for families of in the Central and Gregstown ward areas in Newtownards. A copy of the evaluation report will be available shortly. We will be seeking funding to provide further services in these areas. For more information see ‘Events’.
